Donations and Sponsorship

We are entirely dependant on private sponsorship for all our projects and we can only help the needy in relation to our monthly income. We do not have a set amount that we ask you to donate and leave this entirely for you to decide based on what you feel you can afford. Remember £2.00 per week can mean the difference between life and death and most of our sponsors donate (by standing order) between £10 and £20 per month. In addition those of you who are U.K. taxpayers can, by signing the Gift Aid form, enable us to claim a further 25 pence in the pound from the Inland Revenue at no cost to you.

Blank Standing Order forms and Gift Aid forms can be downloaded or obtained from our office. Most sponsors donate to the overall running of the charity but some of you may wish to sponsor a particular project or specific item/s.

These are examples of some of our costs:

Complete running costs for the Disabled Children’s Day Care Centre with 30 children - £1200 per month. This includes physiotherapists, speech therapist, housekeeper/cook, driver, medicines & medical supplies, food, maintaining a vehicle to transport the patients and rent for the premises.

£1300 per month to to cover the cost of formal education for 55 students. This covers all costs including school fees, uniform, books, bus fares etc. These costs increase for those students that continue with further education and attend university.

£300 per month contribution to the running of Starting Point School.

£7.50 will purchase 100 oranges, £6.00 for a hundred bananas – fruit is an essential part of any diet but unaffordable by those living in the slums. Eggs cost 7p each and fish and meat are both very expensive.

A pair of ‘flip-flop’ sandals cost just £1. Few slum children have footwear and many suffer severe burns & lacerations.
